About Me
Sarah is proud to call Boston her home after growing up in New York and graduating from the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore with a degree in voice performance. A versatile singing actress, she is equally at home in opera, musical theater, and concert works. Sarah enjoys singing all types of music in a wide variety of settings, including fundraisers, weddings, recitals and cabarets. As a young artist with the Baltimore Lyric Opera, she performed original outreach concerts featuring classic Broadway show tunes, opera arias, and Christmas programs.
Whether she’s Madame Herz in Mozart’s The Impresario, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro, or Joanne in Company, she delights audiences with her excellent comedic timing. Her affinity for comedy led her to perform with the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island as Rose Maybud in Ruddigore, Pitti-Sing in The Mikado, and Daphne in Thespis, a world premier with rediscovered and new music by 12-time Grammy award winner Thomas Z. Shepard. Tapping into her ability for dramatic acting, she portrayed Micaëla in Carmen, Flora and Annina in La Traviata, Mrs. Gobineau in The Medium, and Lynne in A Grand Night For Singing.
Since moving to Boston, she performs with companies such as MassOpera, Opera51, Carlisle Chamber Orchestra, Masterworks Chorale, and North Shore Summer Concert Series. Some of her favorite concert works performed in her new hometown include the soprano soloist in the Poulenc Gloria and Bach Cantata no. 51.
Sarah is also a classically trained dancer, with experience in ballet, modern dance, waltz, and Fosse technique. With Opera51, Sarah was a featured dancer in Amahl and the Night Visitors and Die Fledermaus.
She is currently studying with Dana Lynne Varga, and when she is not singing, she is a librarian at the Brighton Branch of the Boston Public Library. At BPL, she shares her passion for reading and body acceptance with her neighborhood. Sarah believes that all bodies are good bodies, and that people of all sizes can portray any role--whether romantic leads or comedic characters.
